    Overview

    This one-day virtual symposium is designed to provide a general overview of various critical care and oncology topics including neuro critical care, simulation in critical care, CAR T therapy, ARDS, and many more. The morning will be full of our didactic lectures and the afternoon consists of two options for sessions that are ultrasonography and respiratory therapy focused.

    Optional Afternoon Breakout Sessions
    • Ultrasound Breakout: Point of care ultrasound is now an indispensable tool for emergency and critical care providers. This breakout session is aimed at helping providers gain a foundational understanding of point of care ultrasonography and interpret ultrasound images.
    • Respiratory Breakout: Respiratory care is at the mainstay of modern critical care medicine. Our breakout session is aimed at helping providers gain knowledge in various ventilator modes and other modalities such as bronchoscopy, HFNC, and noninvasive ventilation.
    Who Should Attend

    This course is intended for nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, respiratory therapists, physicians and other healthcare professionals interested in critical care.
    Objectives
    1. Explain the importance of simulation training in critical care
    2. Identify common pulmonary infections in immunocompromised patients
    3. Describe management of immune check point Inhibitor toxicity
    4. Identify early signs and symptoms of compartment syndrome
    5. Summarize management of CAR-T cell patients along with identifying common complications
    6. Define acute lung injury and identify risk factors that contribute to ALI
    7. Ultrasound Breakout: Summarize the basic indications of point of care ultrasonography
    8. Ultrasound Breakout: Understand the basic principles of neuro, vascular, thoracic and cardiac point of care ultrasonography.
    9. Ultrasound Breakout: Decipher common abnormalities on various radiology examinations
    10. Respiratory Breakout: Describe common modes of ventilation, frequently used ventilator settings, and troubleshooting.
    11. Respiratory Breakout: Discuss the basic principles and strategies to improve ventilation and oxygenation in critically ill patients.
