This conference will feature state of the art advances in Heart Transplant and Solid Organ Transplant delivered by a panel of world-renowned experts from the University of Chicago Medicine and regional experts from U.A.E. and Kuwait. Since a University of Chicago doctor performed the first animal organ transplant in 1904, which later earned him the Nobel prize, UChicago Medicine has continued to be a world leader in organ transplantation. We were the first in the world to perform a successful living-donor liver transplant and heart-liver-kidney transplant. We have performed 12 of the country’s 34 heart-liver-kidney transplants, including the historic back-to-back triple organ transplants in 2018. In 2021, UChicago Medicine performed a record number of organ transplants, increased by 42% from the previous year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic. This event will provide attendees with a great opportunity to learn and discuss the advances in organ transplant (Heart, Lungs, Liver, Kidney & islet) with transplant experts from the University of Chicago and learn more about the current challenges and clinical development of organ transplant.
