    UCSF Obstetrics and Gynecology Update What Does the Evidence Tell Us 2024 New information on obstetric and gynecologic practice is being produced at a rapid rate. Leaders in the field, including those at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, take an evidence-based approach when formulating practice guidelines. This course is designed to provide a comprehensive update for the practitioner, placing emphasis on reviewing current evidencebased data and applying new practice guidelines.

    Designed for practicing physicians, residents, nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants seeking an update on a wide range of current issues in obstetrics and gynecology.

    Learning Objectives

    Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
    • Describe the newest medications for management of postpartum depression;
    • List the non-insulin antiglycemic medications used in management of gestational diabetes;
    • Apply the most updated recommendations for HPV-based cervical cancer screening;
    • Employ an approach to applying social determinants of health when caring for obstetrics patients;
    • Use best practice for management of abnormal uterine bleeding in adolescents;
    • Describe the newest tests available through cell free fetal DNA screening;
    • Implement inpatient bundle to prevent infections related to obstetric care;
    • Use the most updated evidence to guide counseling around breast cancer screening;
    • List pregnancy complications related to the use of assisted reproductive techniques;
    • Counsel patients on the current evidence for the management of menopausal symptoms.
